Worth the climb up, falls are beautiful, make sure to climb the walkway adjacent to the falls to get the full view of the falls, seeing it just from the bottom doesn’t give you the justice you deserve!First time on this trail since after the Carr Fire.

X. CO2 Emission. Visited between May thunderstorms and it was amazing. The way the trail was carved actually makes it accessible for just about anyone. Bare minimum facilities.

The trail meanders through an amazing array of California native plants- honeysuckle vine, rosa californica, Douglas iris, blue-spiked Ceanothus integrans, woolly sunflowers, Pacific dogwood (on the westside of the first wooden bridge). Check flight prices and hotel availability for your visit. Absolutely worth it.

The burnt areas are devastating. The lake takes its name from the Gold Rush mining town beneath its waters, which was inundated after the building of 282-foot Whiskeytown Dam in 1963.

Saw families with kids on the trail too. (This is where I lost reception, but the GPS on this app continued to work. Take a left onto Crystal Creek Road and drive 3.6 miles to the trailhead, which will be on the left-hand side of the road.Parking is limited at the trailhead, leaving some folk to resort to parking by the side of the road. Give yourself a high five, this was a great hike!Great Hike the climb was tough but their are benches at the end of the climb that help you recover and continue the climb. Get Started Benches along the way up, I think we used every one of them, this hike kicked my butt!
