The Periphery is so weakened by the economic, military, political and cultural assaults that it cannot pay for itself. Successors, Regionalization or Globalization? Hitler’s, Mussolini’s and the Japanese beaten empires were up for grabs by the victors; at the time to be shared with the Soviet Union. No automatic submission any longer on any continent, not even in Australia.The magic is gone. Those in the Periphery should be grateful for the benefits, not whining cry-babies. Obviously, there are some benefits, to some; if not we would need a theory of human anti-rationality bordering on the suicidal. THE FALL OF THE US EMPIRE - AND THEN WHAT?
In no way should that be confused with any fall of the USA; just to the contrary, the fall of the US Empire may lead to the blossoming of the US Republic.
With enemies on their knees, the US conditions were hyper-capitalism, militarism, hegemonism and exceptionalism as Periphery of the US Empire, but entitled to establish their own sub-empires. Control costs exceed exploitation benefits, bleeding the Center and the Periphery alike. US Fascism or US Blossoming? Nothing extraordinary about that, all empires so far have had life cycles, and the US Empire is no exception.
The standard analysis is to psychiatrize the murderer, searching for a profile and its likes in society to prevent more shootings.But, the problem is whether Washington is too autistic to think thoughts beyond its bombing-droning-sniping obsession.And that is by the same military means that brought the two countries into being.
