Not smoky, not sweet, just bland and completely off-putting. Can't put where it went wrong. I thought I must have gotten a bad bottle. I hope it's gonna change because this was my first whisky.As a social drinker in Canada, I like the smooth feeling from this compare to the hursh of the Canadian Club. Jim Murray awarded Teacher's Highland Cream 90 points in his Whisky Bible.In deference to the reviews, I don't taste much Islay in this, nor does it taste like the Highland Cream that I grew up with in Glasgow, back in the 60's. Tastes awrite though - no complaints for the price point. I think Teachers suffers from an image problem - it just doesn't have to look of an expensive Scotch. If you like pungent, full-flavoured whisky this is a real treat and at a bargain price, but be warned - it's not to everybody's taste. But once the bottle is gone I will never drink it again.Completely undrinkable. For the money this leaves Grouse, Bells, Grants et al far, far behind. Tasting notes; Out of the oven fresh baked yeast breads malt,some fruitiness and just a charm of peat smoke. So far so good. The mouth-feel is substantial and the finish okay (when you get a good bottle) and even great (when you get a great bottle). Cannot drink this stuff! $14-$15 for a 750 ml bottle. Wonderfully high malt content. Just not the same anymore.I agree that Teacher's Highland Cream is probably the best whisky for its price. Schieffelin ( sp!) This new version is nothing like the old version. It's my absolute favourite with just the right balance of malt.I poured the entire glass away, washed my sniffer, rinsed my mouth and poured myself a glass of Glenfiddich 18.It starts with an excellent nose, continues with a nice balanced palate but finishes with an aftertaste, shorter and flatter than expected. I’d recently finished the last of my ‘finer’ whiskies & was after a quick dram. Varies from bottle to bottle almost. Just wish I could fine 1.75 ml bottles in my area.For the price, it's a really great find. It´s just bitter and sweet. Black and White is a brand of blended Scotch whisky created by founder James Buchanan in the late 1800s. Only whisky I will entertain under 42/3 percent. I hope the distillery tasters are not either.Must be personal taste. If I have to say a negative it is pretty sweet like all cheap blends but miles better than say Glen Moray. Am worried though that that too will fade from the glory days!I have received bottle as a gift. Teacher's is by far the best blended Scotch on the Market. The Teachers has a pleasant smell and taste. I mainly drink single malts these days but im never disapointed to be brought this dram 😁Pretty close to JW Black. You can pick up a bottle of this for £13 most weeks in one of the supermarkets.Not a big scotch drinker, picked this up on sale at local liquor store, thought I'd give it a try. It has a very high malt content for a blend but they chop and change the components to keep costs down, they have a lot of old stock from Silent distilleries and there is sometimes a good reason why they were closed down. BTW Ardmore traditional now has the same menthol flavor. I have tried most of the blended scotches, but this consistently beats them, for it's smokiness and smoothness. This is the 4 th bottle that I have had problems with the plastic insert that will not allow product out...what a pain especially if travelling and screwdriver and pliers are not available...Smoke, peat, smooth, almost single malt like. A nice…Right off the bat I gotta say this is one of the more complex scotch blends for the price. A quiet, longish finish with a lingering touch of bitter. Oh, did I mention the fact he was a master mariner for the British-India Steam Navigation Company too?Oh dearie me! Would highly recommend for a budget dram. Teacher's HC is full bodied, a bit of smoke from front to back, and nicely balanced. Now it tastes like cheap grain whisky.
and it cost about as much as a case of "natural lite"I tried a large Highland Cream with a dash of chilled water. This new label is a real and unfortunate step backwards.I love the smokiness and the maltiness in the nose I also love the salty notes I get in the taste.
