We camped by the river and the water was very cold and refreshing even in mid summer!Soca is the most picturesque river in Slovenia. A short walk downhill takes you to this enchanting cove where the water flows delicately on a rock wall covered with plants. You won’t see the gorges while rafting as they are too narrow.From Trenta, we took a local bus and soon we arrived in Bovec. Summer 2017. And I would recommend you allow 3 days in the Julian Alps and do the same as they are amazing! It is mainly a G2 run with an occasional burst of G3, and is a tributary of the Soča. Note that this is not the part where they do rafting.
Starting in the Trenta valley in the heart of the Triglav National Park, it flows by the towns of Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin, Most Na Soci and Nova Gorica, where it crosses the border into Italy and then continuous its journey through northeastern Italy to the Adriatic Sea. Another great spot for photographing the river is the Napoleon Bridge near the town of Kobarid.

Velika Korita is a bit difficult to spot because the rocks are quite narrow.The whole Soca river trail (from Bovec to the source of Soca) is over 20 km long! However, having visited both, Soca remains my favorite. It is chillingly cold (even at the peak of summer), crystal-clear, and looks like it comes from a children’s storybook. And the best part is to turn around to admire where you drive from!And then you arrive to an open flat area where you will find the town of Bovec.As we drove towards the Brda region, I discover another stunning spot on the river: the small town of Kanal with colorful house, historical ruins and multiple shades of green.Seeing those colors in Mountain lakes and river is quite frequent. The Soca River’s riverside towns, most notably Bovec, are packed with travel agencies offering a large variety of water activities.Besides being a haven for water sports enthusiasts, the river also attracts photographers and nature lovers who can just sit on the banks and marvel at the remarkably eye-catching waters in a shade a sparkling emerald. There are many tour agencies that organize excursions on Soca river in Bovec - you won’t have a problem finding one.
