Until I read his report, I was meh about their release, now I’m heading to my fitter this afternoon to check out the collection.I am informed by Ankush that Ping has told him nothing is wrong with the putter and there is nothing he will do about it.I bought a Ping Sigma2 ZB2 putter end May2019 in Boston; in Delhi I found that it hasa looseness in the shaft, probably on account of the height adjustment screw. $219.00. It is actually pretty freaking spectacular in a lot of different ways IMO.Ball-retrieving feature aside, the Fetch is an interesting design. In the line, you’ll find the perennial PING standard, the Anser, but the rest of the models are a mix of modifications of previous models and new designs. PING’s engineers pushed the metal around with the ZB2, keeping the general ZB aesthetic, but producing something new as well. I’m going to need to try it out.You can see how the geometry is stretched a bit here and there with the Sigma ZB 2.
Tiger Woods, that’s who.I am slightly concerned about the putter faces – my experience with Ping has been affected by the fact that each change has made for a huge difference in feel (ie very little in common with previous generation’s insert). The PING Sigma 2 line-up features ten putter models. Short insert story is that I could feel the difference of impact between short putts and long putts.I get that it “can” Fetch the ball from the hole. The ZB 2 shares some DNA with the Vault ZB, but has some unique design tweaks.

Golf should be fun, always.The advantage of an adjustable length putter shaft is that it is infinitely adjustable in increments between 32″ and 36″. A small tool not entirely dissimilar from the wrenches used to adjust your driver allows or easy adjusting via the butt end of the grip.I’ve kept this knowledge nugget for last because I believe this new shaft will be the lasting legacy of the Sigma 2 line. Plus, an innovative adjustable-length shaft allows you to dial-in your precise fit. Here is a shot of the two of them side by side at address.I love that ZB but wow, that Tyne 4…looks like PING saw the market for the JT X5 style flow neck and went for it. When you lift it up and then put it down to address the putt there is a distinct sound and feel from the shaft.PING’s research indicates 8 out of 10 golfers are playing the wrong-length putters and losing strokes as a result.Last note on how good this putter is for my game. That’s pure opinion based upon my experiences, of course, but you will feel the difference at various distances when you roll these.I have a friend who is a Ping rep and saw the new putters a couple of weeks ago. Here are some of my takeaways from my rollings.The model offerings cover the putting spectrum. There are signs at some golf courses that say “Please don’t retrieve your ball from the hole with your putter.”A putter-obsessed recreational golfer, constantly striving to improve his game while not getting too hung up about it. That Anser 2 was not happy to come along, because after rolling the Sigma 2 version, the all-milled Anser felt very firm, and almost a little harsh.
