Even in its heyday with people running it on PlayStations and the then current gen of Macs it was still balls buggy.Debian is a very friendly community, very helpful.There is Ubuntu for PPC, but they dropped support so it is just unofficial support.I'm not sure of Arch PowerPC is still alive, but like Gentoo - you should know what you're getting into when you go down that road.I second debian. Unless you impulsively buy the book before you are sure you even want to install and use OpenBSD, then you won't lose anything by just giving it a shot.And if you need newer software there is debian testing :) But start with Stable if you are a beginner.I have a Dual G5 Powermac running Debian and I'm very pleased with it.Mint Debian or MintPPC which is also debian based has run very well on several ppc macs I've had and/or worked on.There are no official ppc builds of Archlinux btw.By the way, are there any Puppy Linux for PPC?
