I love provia and velvia 100. velvia 50 is crazy sharp in medium format, in fact its the only film I use for landscape photos if I am going bigger than 8×10 prints.

When the same lab has processed and scanned both films, I see very little difference in color balance, but lower contrast and saturation in Portra films (but noticeably finer grain and greater sharpness).In medium format this film becomes even more impressive – the film takes on a silky-smooth, ultra high resolution look that represents the best of modern film photography.I disagree, in my experience there isn’t as much red or orange (and saturation) present in skin tones and in the overall image with Pro 400H when compared to Portra 400 or consumer-level C-41 process films.

It’s tough for me to put my thumb on what it is, exactly that I dislike so much. Today, Pro 400H is often compared with Kodak Portra 400, though it has not reached anywhere close to the same hype. I’m a fair skinned person and most of the friends I’ve photographed with 400H are fair skinned and all of us look ghostly white surrounded by dark and saturated colors around us. The -2 Highlight will help keep the highlights from blowing out. Lots of new film simulations to look at. Through overuse, the word “aesthetic” has become the internet’s version of inane business park buzzwords like “synergy” and “ideate.” That, much like each film in the Portra family, over exposure my a stop or so often leaves the film with a much saturated look. Fuji Pro 400H, among other things in our hobby, is a victim of that phenomenon.I have never tried this film before. Just okay.
