This did no work, however, if i took the remotes OFF the charging pad first, unplugged the device, waiting 10 seconds, plugged it back in, and replaced the wii-motes on the pad....I had the red light of death also, and tried everything you all suggested. The pad resets and the devices are now charging correctly. Help.

After about 10 min in the charger I put them back in the energizer pack and dropped it on the induction charger and it worked! However, it did solve the issue by leaving the wi-motes on the charger, while unplugging the power supply to the pad, leaving it off for 10 seconds and reconnecting it. If you have the same charger as I do and you have the single size lithium ion battery, when it's charging properly you will see a steady red light and one that flashes.
