early 2009 imac hard drive replacement

A bit disappointed that my serial number didn't match the recall hard drives. This may change if a third-party manufacturer manages to create a compatible hard drive, but for the time being you’ll need to go to an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider if you need your hard drive replaced. My iMac drive finally "died" (invalid node structure) when I tried to upgrade from Lion to Mavericks.

Now, can you make one to show how to replace the thermal paste on the CPU and video card heat sinks in an iMac? If you want to replace or upgrade an internal hard drive in your iMac, an Apple service provider can do it for you. Thanks.

Let us know if you have any other questions!Question, I have an early 2009 24″ iMac. I have the same Seagate model and revision AP24.

And as for the Late 2009 iMac, it might be considered vintage, but it is still compatible with macOS Sierra so you will have access to the latest Mac operating system. I can select the external drive and choose Restore. You will want to move your current 2 X 2GB RAM chips to the lower slots and install the new 4GB chips in the upper slots. Can someone confirm?3. and no you dont need any cables or os discsAnother question for you. Not sure if they can actually perform the swap today or not but I want to be ready.Hmm.. Few questions:If I do a TimeMachine backup, when the iMac boots up with empty drive, I'm guessing there's a way to tell it to restore everything from the backup?now CCC does not make a recvoery partition when you copied your disk is what i learned i had to make a partion recovery disk image via the restart option process2. I tried contacting CCC but their hours are M-F unfortunately.1) Use setup assistant and migrate data from either the bootable external drive or disk image which I'm creating now (though looks like it'll take 8 hrs ~ 600GB bringing me really close to my appt time)Ok .. looked at the Disk Utility Menu and I think I should be able to do this. Backup is on Time Machine so I'm not worried about data loss right now. I just bought from OWC and installed 16 GB RAM and a 1TB SSD with the DIY kit in a 2010 21″ iMac that I picked up used for $400. I have a 2009 iMac 27 and was wondering if a Radeon 6970 2GB graphics card (that is On eBay and show i7) work? So, which option is best to avoid having to re-install softwares (3rd party)?Thank you for visiting the Apple Store.

Disk Utility (should be on screen) Check continue, choose start up disk, click erase button, choose Mac OS Extended, Click Erase. How can I do it with the 2 things that I have now, one being the bootable external drive from CCC and hopefully a disk image which I'm creating now using Disk Utility.wether its paid for or not i only had SL on my imac i got lion and ML via different ways with out paying for itWill this work? Last fall I took the busted one in to the Apple Store and found the problem was a bad video card, a cheap fix. Or maybe similar utility from Disk Utility to do this?I suppose I can download the Mavericks installer and put it on the internal drive and go from there? How then do I get my stuff from external drive to the internal drive?iMac 27" i5, Mac OS X (10.6.2)ive used ccc before on my laptop when i used teh data doubler from OWC to put stuff on my ssd2) Boot up from the external drive, and use CCC to clone back to the new internal drive? Note, I don't have a time machine backup (at least not a recent time machine backup that will get me back to where I was at). Compatible drive from OWC is discounted to $80 from $150.

I also plan on replacing the 1TB with a SSD drive.Someone just gave me their old iMac 21.5″ late 2009 desktop computer. Is this due to my High Sierra upgrade or something else? My question is- is it worth it to upgrade the memory or just better off getting rid of the thing? I had a new iMac delivered the next day and put the 2009 on the shelf for two years. All is good.I hope this helps you out some. Thanks!Great article, and timely in my case. And is there anything I can do? Only thing additional was an external USB enclosure for the original 3.5″ drive. I connected a spare drive as the destination to try this out and it doesn't work.
