Benjamin Smith has worked in the cycle training industry almost since the inception of the National Standard and Bikeability, as an instructor and instructor trainer, working with every age group, ability, demographic and to every training outcome.. Cherry has over 20 years of experience working in children’s charities, including at NSPCC, Barnardos, Internet Watch Foundation, Peace One Day and the Children’s Society. In terms of course ratios, the maximum riders per instructor for Level 1 is twelve, for Level 2 it is six, and for Level 3 it is three.In particular, the modules have been developed to address some of the ‘barriers’ to getting children cycling. Bikeability is the government’s national cycle training programme, and is available for both children and adults with all levels of experience and any type of bicycle. The Trust itself manages, develops and promotes Bikeability, and is responsible for distributing the Bikeability award materials [7] . Bikeability is funded by the Department for Transport and delivered through registered training providers. Bikeability training is organised and delivered locally by registered Bikeability providers, and predominantly takes place at schools (Years 5-7).
