Fred Newman has written the best book and maybe the only book about how to make unusual sounds with your mouth. There’s (1) light smacking sounds that occur after drinking water, (2) stronger clicky sounds coming from the mouth, and (3) pressure-related vacuum pops further back in the throat, sinuses, or vocal cords.you probably shouldn’t be driving whilst doing voice over though… Hugh, as usual, terrific advice articulated clearly and with wit. I’m sure my dental hygienist cringes every time I show up for my dentist appointment. It seems to have a soothing affect and does an incredible job of cleansing clicky-mouth. I mean, the TLM 102 does have a little presence on the top end, but it’s really about projection and the ratio of sibilants to vowels – and distance from the mic. You have been warned!Yep – that’s the key – and don’t forget the placement. Is this Hugh banging on about hydration…again?? An ounce of prevention will be worth a pound of cure!Why?

Then of course, I became self-conscious during my narrations and anytime I heard my mouth clicks, I would read the passage again in an attempt to improve it…it just adds to the editing nightmare.

Therefore, the dialogue is quiet, and the noise floor and your mouth noises are louder, comparatively.I am a tea-drinker, a lot of tea; and I mean A LOT! Please keep up the good work.Also great comment above about perceived volume in the speaker’s ears, which may cause them to drop their projection.For years I thought the clicks I heard in recordings were some super annoying computer set-up.
